QC Tutoring

About Me

Quinn, the tutor behind QC Tutoring, standing beside a bonsai treeHello! My name is Quinn. I run QC Tutoring on my own where I provide private 1 on 1 tutoring sessions. I specialize in MCAT tutoring, where I combine aspects of content mastery, passage analysis, and problem solving within my sessions. The part of my tutoring that I emphasize the most is learning how to approach the MCAT’s passages and problems. Throughout our time working together, I will teach you how to become comfortable with analyzing complex passages, as well as applying relevant information to challenging problems.

I scored a 525 on my exam first try, but believe it or not my diagnostic was a 498. I know exactly how hard studying can be both mentally and physically. It can drain you, beat you down, and feel never-ending. I feel as though I can not only help you study and perform well on the MCAT but also help you handle the emotional turmoil that can come with preparing for an exam like this one.

MCAT score report: Chemical and Physical Foundations 132, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills 129, Biological and Biochemical Foundations 132, Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations 132, total 525 in the 100th percentile

To attest to my tutoring skills, I have been tutoring for over 2 years. I started tutoring at Iowa State University where I was employed as an independent contractor for the company “Knack”. During my junior year, I tutored mainly general and organic chemistry. Going into my senior year, Iowa State stopped using Knack, forcing me to start my own independent business. From senior year on is when I began tutoring physics and biochemistry as well. I have tutored for over 2000 hours since starting, giving me extensive experience not only in the foundations of the content on the MCAT, but also valuable teaching skills.

I tutor because I enjoy helping people learn, and I love to see others succeed. I feel as though my ability to learn things, paired with my gift of explanation helps me teach these complex topics in an understandable way.

My focus is actual student improvement. I do not tutor for the money. Because of this, I only tutor 8 students at a time. I do this because I want to ensure that each of my students receives an adequate amount of my time and that I can work with students for extended lengths of time leading into their exam. This way I can build a relationship with my students and focus on their strengths/weaknesses.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me! I look forward to working with you all!
